Helek advances water quality monitoring and reporting initiatives, specifically in the context of Phase I and Phase II NPDES stormwater compliance. He collaborates with San Francisco Bay Area municipal agencies, offering valuable support in the assessment and mitigation of pollutant loads from metals, bacteria, PCBs, pesticides, and trash. His expertise extends to conducting creek bioassessments, monitoring water quality in creeks and storm drain infrastructure, microbial source tracking, and performing on-land visual trash assessments. With a background in conservation biology, federal environmental compliance, and Phase I stormwater compliance, Helek brings a comprehensive skill set to environmental initiatives. Helek holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Environmental Studies from UC Santa Cruz.
